LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man from Louisa County was killed in a Friday night crash involving a fire department vehicle.

The Virginia State Police reports the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Louisa Road, just west of the intersection with Amick Road.

A Louisa County fire department vehicle, specifically a 2020 Ford F-250, was on its way to a call with its lights and siren on, heading west on Louisa Road.

Just past the Amick Road intersection, a 2021 Nissan Sentra turned to the left in front of the truck.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as 38-year-old Ricky Alan Meninger of Louisa, was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Police say he was wearing a seat belt.

The crash is still under investigation.
