LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find a missing person.

According to the sheriff’s office, Maya Olivia Smith was last seen renting a boat from a Lake Anna business in Spotsylvania County on May 11.

Around 12:30 p.m., she was seen wearing a purple sweater jacket with a zipper and baggy dark blue or black pants.

Her family reports she has highlights and a short, “poofy” hairstyle.

On Sunday, the sheriff’s office received a report of an abandoned boat stuck on a sandbar in Lake Anna near Bear Castle Drive.

That boat matched the description of the one rented by Smith the previous day.

The sheriff’s office says several of Smith’s personal belongings were found on the board, and there was no evidence indicating foul play.

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office’s Marine Unites, the Louisa County Fire and EMS, and the Spotsylvania County Fire and EMS boats used sonar to search the area where the abandoned boat was found. Nothing was located.

Anyone with information regarding Smith’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 967-1234 or (800) 346-1466.
