ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An investigation is underway into a fire that destroyed an Orange County home on Wednesday.

According to the Orange Volunteer Fire Company, crews responded to a home on Petersburg Road on Wednesday evening.

Crews on the scene faced dense woods and limited access to the home, which suffered major structural damage.

Firefighters report the home was well involved when they arrived, and they were able to search the first floor of the home once the fire was under control.

However, the second floor of the home collapsed, compromising search efforts.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Orange County Fire Marshal at (540) 672-7044.
