ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- One person was killed in a weekend fire in Albemarle County.

The Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on the 6000 block of Monacan Trail Road around 5:10 p.m. Saturday.

When units arrived on the scene, they found a single-family home that was heavily involved.

One person was home at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending the notification of the victim’s family.

The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, but it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
