LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday afternoon in Louisa County.

According to police, the single-vehicle crash occurred on Louisa Road just east of the intersection with Lindsay Road around 4:55 p.m.

A 2008 Chevrolet C35 was heading west on Louisa Road when a trailer it was hauling became detached.

That caused the Chevrolet to lose control, run off the right side of the road and hit several trees.

The driver, identified as 30-year-old Francisco A. Urvan-Olivares of Gordonsville, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Police say he was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash is still under investigation.
