ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Drivers in the Crozet area could be impacted by a project at the intersection of Crozet Avenue and Rockfish Gap Turnpike.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says crews will be widening the southbound turn lane from Crozet Avenue onto westbound Rockfish Gap Turnpike.

Beginning July 8, a flagging operation will be set up for the work, which will add space for drivers who want to turn onto the turnpike.

VDOT says the project will allow southbound traffic to move more efficiently through the intersection.

Drivers will still be able to access the turn lane during construction but there will likely be delays during the morning and evening commutes.

The project is expected to be completed by July 19.
