AHIP starts community donation campaign

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A local organization is taking on a month-long donation match campaign in June to fill funding gaps before the fiscal year ends.

AHIP, a group that helps low-income people and families get home repairs, started its donation match campaign to fund projects.

Every dollar that's donated will be matched by a private donor to help the organization fund projects.

Cory Demchak, the director of programs at AHIP, said the donations would help fulfill the mission of repairing homes and helping families in the community.

"I think it's important to remember the folks who are in affordable housing who need to preserve their homes for future generations so they can preserve their home and their family's wealth," Demchak said. "AHIP is there to do just that."

The campaign will continue until June 30.
