AHIP, Wells Fargo volunteers help repair home in Crozet

CROZET, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Volunteers from AHIP and Wells Fargo spent their weekend helping the Carter family repair their home in Crozet.

Wells Fargo donated $15,000 for the project to build a new deck on the porch and replace insulation and windows.

Kimberly Carter has lived in the house since she was born, and she said she's thankful for the work the volunteers are doing to repair her home.

"It might not be a new home, but the improvements are so awesome," she said.

JB Hurt works for Wells Fargo and was part of the group of volunteers working on Carter's home.

He said the project is more than just about the donation, but lending a helping hand to one of their neighbors.

"It's the right thing to do," said Hurt. "It really helps to see somebody and something that they can have, that they didn't necessarily have before, and that we can come in and just help them make their house safer for them."

Since 2013, Wells Fargo has invested more than $170,000 for home repair projects with AHIP clients.
