Charlottesville to rename street in honor of longtime reverend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- A local street will be renamed on Friday in honor of a longtime reverend at the church on that street.

According to a release, there will be a ceremony officially designating Old Fifth Street as Honorary Reverend Rufus Hayes Street on Friday.

Hayes has been a local reverend for 50 years, heard on Sunday morning radio, appearing in court to give character references and building a "church for all people."

The ceremony will take place in the parking lot of the Charlottesville Church of Christ on Fifth Street SW on Friday at 2 p.m.
