Five new homes dedicated in the community

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- One neighborhood in Charlottesville is set to welcome five new families into their homes.

The resounding message from many was, "Thank you."

Through Habitat for Humanity, five families from all walks of life will be moving in as first-time homeowners.

This is something they have all put a lot of sweat equity into and are all happy about.

"It feels great, cause you have to be patient in doing that, and it took us a long time, but we were patient and we really like it," said Yussuf Yussuf, a first time homeowner.

His family is just as excited.

"It feels great to know, that your dad built the house that you live in," said Mohammed Idris, Yussuf's son. "I'm really excited that I get my own room."

All the families have been waiting since 2014 to finally walk into their own homes.

The home dedication is one of the last steps before these new neighbors get to settle in into our community.
