Harvey announces run for Albemarle County Board of Supervisors

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Republican Steve Harvey announced his run for Albemarle County Board of Supervisors on Saturday at Pro Re Neta brewery.

Harvey will be running for the White Hall District seat, which is currently held by Ann Mallek.

He is a U.S. Army veteran and he is currently the outreach director for the U.S. House of Representatives.

One of his priorities is making it easier for businesses to open up in the county.

He says the current process takes too long because of the county's Architectural Review Board.

"If I was elected, the first thing I would do is walk through the door and say 'What is the average wait time to go through the process with you guys,'" said Harvey. "Fourteen months? Ok, let's see if we can do a third of that. If you can't do that, I'll just have to replace you with somebody else."

Harvey's other priorities include land conservation for farmers and making the current dress codes at school more precise and detailed.
