Severe storms cause damage to Barboursville family's home

BARBOURSVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A line of severe storms that hit northern Albemarle County and Greene County on Saturday evening caused significant damage to a home in Barboursville.

Jessica Turner said she's was watching a movie with her family Saturday night when her house started to rattle and shake.

"It just went white outside, just from the rain and hail itself," said Turner.

The storm caused a power outage at Turner's home and significant tree damage.

Several trees fell on the house and carport, crushing the cars inside.

"Just trying to get around to actually see the car that was under the carport because there really isn't a carport," Turner said. "It's just crushed."

Turner said she's thankful her family is safe.

They're waiting for the insurance adjuster to visit the house and evaluate the damage.
