Vitae Spirits holds holiday food drive

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Vitae Spirits Distillery in Charlottesville will be releasing a new menu of winter cocktails Friday, and the founder saw the launch as an opportunity to do some good.

The distillery will hold a food drive for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank at the cocktail release.

Vitae Spirits is unveiling five new cocktails, including a classic hot toddy and a coffee eggnog drink.

Customers are asked to bring nonperishable food donations, and a portion of the sales will also go to the food bank.

Founder Ian Glomski said winter is an important time to help those in need.

"We do focus a lot in our general thinking about our community and things of that sort," Glomski said. "Things get very quiet in January and February, in the deep of winter when, in particular, food is at its greatest need."

The Winter Cocktail Release is Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Vitae Spirits Distillery.
