Woman rescued from James River

RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia State Police is looking into how a woman ended up in the James River early Sunday morning.

Police received calls for a disabled SUV abandoned on the right lane on Interstate 95 at mile marker 74 on the James River Bridge.

Shortly after arriving on scene, the trooper was told that Richmond Fire and Rescue found a woman in the river alive. She was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

Police also discovered that the SUV belonged to the woman who was rescued from the river.

The incident remains under investigation.
