SPARKS, Md. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- A lacrosse career at Notre Dame is on the horizon for Emmett Barger. So is another chance to compete for a spot on the United States U19 team.
Barger was one of 32 players named to the US Men's Lacrosse U19 Training Team on Tuesday. The St. Anne's-Belfield graduate is the only player from Virginia on the list, which is comprised of players selected after a three-day tryout in Maryland this past weekend.
The US training team will in November and January before trimming the roster to 23 players for next July's World Lacrosse Men's U19 World Championship in Ireland.
As a senior at STAB this past spring, Barger scored 59 goals and 44 assists to become just the fifth player in program history to put up 100 points in a single season. Barger signed last November to play college lacrosse at Notre Dame.
