Cavaliers rally past Lehigh in home opener

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Michael Kraus scored three of his four goals in the second half, as No. 11 Virginia rallied to beat Lehigh 11-8 in the Cavaliers' home opener Friday night.

Kraus finished with four goals and an assist for a five-point night. Dox Aitken added a pair of goals and two assists for UVA, which improved to 1-1 with No. 13 High Point coming to Klöckner Stadium on Monday. Lehigh fell to 1-2 on the season.

UVA goalkeeper Alex Rode finished with 11 saves, including a pair of key stops while the Wahoos were a man down following separate penalties while trailing 6-4 in the third quarter. Once the first penalty expired, Aitken scored to get the Cavaliers back within a goal. After the second penalty ended, Kraus scored his second goal of the night to tie it 6-6.

Kraus scored the go-ahead goal off a setup from Aitken to give UVA the lead for good with 6:03 to play in the third. UVA kept Lehigh off the board for the entire third quarter to take control of the game.
