CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- For the first time since starting the 2014 season 6-0, Virginia men's lacrosse is winners of six straight games.
That's after Friday's nine-goal win over Richmond. The Cavaliers will put that streak on the line against first-year program Utah on Sunday.
Lars Tiffany says the explanation for the hot streak is simple. The team has an energy that was not there in the past.
"Its been fun to witness, you're right," Tiffany said. "We have not lacked in energy. We've lacked in some skills and probably some coaching in some games. But in terms of energy, we've been there and that's the key moving forward into the second half of the season."
"That excitement is just natural," said sophomore midfielder Matt Moore. "Its not fake. Everyone's excited to be out there. Excited to be out there. Excited to compete. That's why I like having these short weeks. You get to play, play with your team more and play in these big games."
"It stems from the passion of winning and playing together," said sophomore attackman Ian Laviano. "Its always fun getting out there and competing with your brothers, so yeah, that will be big this coming weekend."
