CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Former Virginia All-American Quin Blanding was spotted in the stands at Saturday's Belk Bowl, watching his former college team beat South Carolina to win the program's first bowl game in 13 years.
Now Blanding and former UVA teammate Andre Levrone are both members of the NFL franchise that calls that stadium home.
Blanding and Levrone were among the 13 players signed to reserve futures contracts by the Carolina Panthers, the team announced on Monday. That means the two players will be on the Panthers roster when the NFL's new league year begins in March.
Both players went undrafted in 2018 after completing their college careers with the Cavaliers. Levrone, a wide receiver, spent time on the practice squads with both the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaquars as a rookie. Blanding, a safety, was one of the final cuts by the Washington Redskins as the team trimmed its preseason roster.
