CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- A late rally gives helps Virginia clinch their first ACC series win of the season over Pittsburgh with 7-5 win.
The Wahoos were able to strike first in the bottom of the second off a Cayman Richardson RBI-triple. But the Panthers would take the lead in the top of fifth on a pair of unearned runs. After tying the game at 4-4, The Cavaliers used a big eighth inning to take the lead for good on a Pittsburgh throwing error, scoring Logan Michaels.
Starting pitcher Griff McGarry struck out six in four innings of work. Virginia saw every starter pick up at least one hit for a total of 12-team hits.
The Wahoos close out the series with Pittsburgh on Sunday at 1 p.m.
