Wahoos open ACC play with 4-1 win over Louisville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- (17) Virginia kicked off ACC play with a 4-1 win over Louisville at Boar's Head Sports Club on Sunday.

After the Cavaliers took an early lead by getting the doubles point, Carl Soderlund made quick work of the number one singles match winning 6-1, 6-0. Virginia went up 3-0 after Henrik Wiersholm won (6-3, 6-4) his 26th consecutive conference singles match. Louisville's David Mizrahi followed up by giving the Cardinals their only win on the day coming back to beat Matthew Lord 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

The Cavaliers clinched the victory with a 6-2, 7-5 victory from Gianni Ross on court two.

Virginia head to Texas next for ITA Kickoff Weekend, where the Wahoos will face Cal on Saturday. The Cavaliers return home on Friday, February 8 for a matchup with the reigning national champion Wake Forest.
