CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (NEWSPLEX) -- The Cured Central Virginia Bacon Festival is Saturday at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Charlottesville.

Fourteen restaurants will be unveiling their bacon creations to the public; all in the hope of winning the coveted Cured Bacon Festival trophy.

Organizers say the event is aimed at encouraging people to think about local restaurants and to buy local foods.

"I think bacon is on the menu in just about every restaurant in the area,” said Laura Brown, the local Food Hub Communications director. “It's just becoming a very hot item. Who doesn't love bacon? I think people are really looking forward to the different creations that chefs come up with."

For an adult, $35 will buy four tasting tickets. One tasting ticket is $10 for kids four to 12. The Local Food Hub will be getting most of the proceeds.
