Companies recognized for hiring of veterans, military spouses
RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Some companies in Virginia have been recognized for their hiring of veterans and military spouses.
The Virginia Department of Veterans Services recognized certain employers for their commitment to the Virginia Values Veterans Program, or V3.
According to a release, this highlights these companies for their hiring of Virginia military veterans, transitioning service members and their spouses.
There were four V3 Program certified employers who got the Governor's Awards in recognition of their efforts to recruit, hire, train and retain veterans and military spouses during 2020.
First Division Consulting, Inc. in Arlington was recognized as the Small Company (1-51 employees) award recipient, while Shipyard Staffing, LLC in Norfolk earned the Medium Company (51-300 employees) recognition.
The Large Company (301-1,000 or more employees) award went to Contract Technical Resources Corporation in Newport News.
And Amazon Corporate, based in Seattle but working on a second headquarters facility in Northern Virginia, was recognized with the Enterprise Company (more than 1,000 employees) award.
The 2021 V3 Hires VETS Now Fellowship Award recognizes the establishment of a fellowship program for transitioning service members in partnership with the Virginia Chamber Foundation and the VDVS. The city of Norfolk received this.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles got the 2021 VDVS Commissioner's Award, which is presented to a C3 certified employer who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the success of Virginia.
The 2021 V3 Impact Award went to Tech for Troops, in recognition of going above and beyond to make a positive and long-lasting community impact for veterans.
Global Planning Initiatives, LLC got the 2021 V3 Breakthrough Award for having the most innovative veteran recruiting and hiring process.
The 2021 V3 Phoenix Award went to 1901 Group for that company's demonstrated support for veterans employed by it or to military job seekers looking to enter its workforce.
Amazon also received the 2021 V3 Military Spouse Award for excelling in the hiring of military spouses in 2020.
Bradley-Morris, LLC got the 2021 V3 Readiness Award to recognize its efforts toward improving workforce readiness, streamlining career development, and fostering a strong military readiness workplace culture and environment.
The 2021 V3 Trailblazer Award went to CACI for its strong partnership in many aspects of the V3 program, including recruitment, hiring, training and retention, workforce development, marketing and community impact.
The government of Fairfax County received the 2021 V3 Locality Award for its demonstrated innovative methods and overall support for veterans and for leadership in a creative and military-friendly environment.
And finally, Sentara Healthcare got the 2021 V3 Military Medics and Corpsmen Program Award for hiring the most veterans for the year.
