CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- After five years in the post, the executive director of the Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative is leaving.

The Bridge PAI says Alan Goffinski is taking on a new opportunity with WNYC, a public radio station.

Since 2017, he has worked to renew the Bridge’s commitment to local culture and nurtured numerous arts initiatives all while meeting the organization’s mission of community, creativity, accessibility and inclusivity.

“My tenure at the Bridge has been the most fulfilling and enriching five years of my career, thanks to the undeniable passion and creativity of the artists, audiences, and volunteers I've had the honor of considering co-conspirators and friends,” said Goffinski. “It's been an incredible experience to help steward the organization toward a vision of a more connected and vibrant Charlottesville, and I'm very much looking forward to witnessing the Bridge continue to grow and thrive in dedicated service to our neighbors, artists, and each other.”

At WNYC, Goffinski will be producing an offshoot of the station’s Radiolab program that will be geared toward children, which is expected to premiere this fall.

The Bridge PAI is now beginning its search for a new executive director.
