CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An upcoming event will be focused on the legacy of a day that enthralled much of the country and has resulted in hundreds of people facing charges.

Former U.S. Attorney and former University of Virginia counsel Tim Heaphy will be at the UVA Miller Center on March 20.

Heaphy was the chief investigative counsel for the U.S. House Select Committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

During the Miller Center event, he will talk about the investigation and the legacy of that day with center Director William Antholis.

Heaphy, a graduate of the UVA School of Law, also authored a report on Charlottesville’s handling of the events of Aug. 11 and 12, 2017.

He was the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia from 2009 to 2014, and in 2016, he founded the Fountain Fund, which provides low-interest loans to formerly incarcerated people.

The Miller Center event will begin at 3 p.m.
