CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- To celebrate Earth Month, the University of Virginia Green Labs hosted an annual event to promote research, during the Green Labs Resource Fair.

Anyone who works at a lab on Grounds was welcome to attend. More than 15 vendors participated in the event on Tuesday.

The Green Labs program encourages researchers to find ways to use sustainable green energy.

"So, the Green Labs Program exists to work with researchers and help them reduce their footprint through very simple, behavioral interventions. Our resource fair here today brings together some of our vendors, stakeholders on Grounds, UVA EHS, recycling and procurement. All to show some of our researchers some of the resources available to them,” said Fiona Hogan, the Green Labs Specialist at the UVA Office for Sustainability.

This program has been around since 2016, and although this fair only happens once a year, Hogan says that Green Labs offers opportunities for people to get involved all year long.
