CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Both the UVA men's and women's lacrosse teams are going to the big dance.

The UVA men's lacrosse team has been announced as the no. 2 seed and is set to host a familiar face in the Richmond Spiders. Just two months ago the Spiders came to Charlottesville where UVA handily beat them 25-8. This is the fifth straight time under Lars Tiffany that the Cavaliers have earned a bid to the NCAA tournament and the first time they have earned a top 2 seed since 2010.

Opening faceoff is scheduled for Saturday May 12th at 12pm. Saturday's game will be the 30th NCAA Tournament game held in Charlottesville. UVA is 21-8 in NCAA Tournament games in Charlottesville and 13-3 at Klöckner Stadium.

If UVA advances they will face the winner of no. 7 seed Georgetown and Yale in Albany NY. Looking at the rest of the bracket, it is an ACC dominant top 3. Duke earns the no. 1 seed while Notre Dame falls just one behind the 'Hoos at the no. 3 spot. Maryland, who UVA lost to in March comes in as the no. 4 seed.

On the women's side UVA packs their bags and head to Denver for their first round match up against Albany. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams. While UVA prepares for an unfamiliar foe, the NCAA is not an unfamiliar setting. UVA has made it to the NCAA tournament each of the 27 seasons under head coach Julie Myers.

Virginia heads into post season play coming off a 15-13 loss to Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament. UVA won a program-best six ACC games this season, finishing No. 4 in the ACC standings. This will be UVA’s 34th trip to the NCAA tournament. UVA ranks third in the nation with 66 tournament games played. UVA owns a 38-30 record in NCAA tournament games.  The winner of Friday’s game will face the winner of No. 5 seed Denver and USC.
