ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Stony Point Elementary School is hosting a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics showcase on Tuesday.

Students focused on these STEAM fields are demonstrating their creations.

Some of those projects include drones, 3-D printers, Oxobots, virtual reality, and snap-circuits. Students were able to learn how to code the Oxobots and other technologies.

Throughout the event, students will take time to show other students and parents how to operate the technology, and they will demonstrate how everything works.

During the school year, students saw the importance of STEAM through their regular coursework.

"Steam is a fun and engaging way for kids to collaborate and problem solve, and this problem solving is a skill that kids can use for life," said Lynn Leathers, a second-grade teacher at Stony Point Elementary School.

The showcase runs from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
