CHARLOTTESVILLE Va. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- Two runs and some clutch pitching from Nick Parker was all it took to edge out ECU 2-1 in front of a sold out crowd at the Dish.

It wasn't Nick Parker's first time pitching against the Pirates and it didn't look like it either. Parker earned his 5th quality start as he threw 5ks, allowing just five hits and one earned run. Parker stayed on the bump for a season high 7 innings.

It was scoreless through the first two frames but then Jake Gelof crushed a ball to left center field only to bounce back in off the glove of an ECU outfielder. After official review the play stood as a double but that would be enough as Kyle Teel later brought Gelof home on an RBI single up right field.

Later in the 5th Parker came up clutch as he struck out the ECU batter while looking, stranding a runner on third to hold onto the 1-0 lead. The pirates would even the score in the 6th as Ryley Johnson singled to right field. The ball went just past the glove of Henry Godbout and some fielding issues allowed Carter Cunningham across home plate, making it a tied ball game.

UVA would reclaim the lead in the next frame as Ethan Anderson hit a go ahead RBI single to send in Ethan O'Donnell. Anderson was 0-3 on the day until making that clutch play.

Jake Berry would come in to relieve Nick Parker in the top of the 8th. Berry kept the defensive momentum going as he sat down each of the 3 batters he faced in his opening inning. Berry closed out the game as the Cavaliers edged out ECU 2-1.

UVA stays in the winners bracket and now will face the winner of East Carolina and Oklahoma in the regional final on Sunday (June 4) at 6pm.
