WASHINGTON (CBS19 NEWS) -- Passenger rail service is currently disrupted between Washington, D.C. and Alexandria.

According to Amtrak, trains operating in the area are stopped due to a disabled train.

The D.C. Fire and EMS reports two cars derailed but are upright inside the tunnel just before Union Station.

One Amtrak employee has been taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Passengers have been moved from the derailed cars to unaffected ones and taken to L’Enfant Plaza Station.

Rail service in and out of Washington, D.C. is being impacted and delays are expected.
