CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- On Wednesday, Nancy Cohen, a volunteer with Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle, won the United Way of Greater Charlottesville’s 2023 United Way Caring for Community Volunteer of the Year Award.

She was honored at the United Way Community Caring Awards.

She began volunteering with Literacy Volunteers in May of 2013 and has exceeded 3,000 volunteer hours with the organization. She has served as a one-on-one tutor, provided class instruction, staffed the front desk and mentored countless other literacy volunteers.
