CPD investigating deadly shooting on East Market Street

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Police Department is investigating an early morning homicide.
According to police, officers responded to the 200 block of East Market Street for a reported shooting just before 3 a.m. Saturday.
The victim, who has been identified as 48-year-old Daniel O’Brien Hall of Charlottesville, was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.
A suspect has not been identified at this time and the investigation is underway.
Businesses and residents on several streets in the area are also being asked to check their surveillance systems, specifically between the 100 and 500 blocks of East Market Street, East Jefferson Street and East High Street as well as the 200 block of Third Street NE and the 200 block of Fourth Street NW.
At this time, police do not believe this was a random act of violence.
