CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A nonprofit mobile vision clinic stopped by Venable Elementary School on Wednesday to deliver glasses to kids in need.

Conexus’ main goal is to make sure vision problems aren't an obstacle to a child’s success in school.

After undergoing a series of tests last week looking for signs of nearsightedness or farsightedness among other conditions, the students got to pick out the frames for their new glasses that will help them do better in school.

Now those glasses are ready, and for many of the children getting a pair, this is the first time they have been able to see clearly.

“If you can't see, it's harder to learn,” said Venable School Nurse Bonnie Vineyard. “Many of these kids would not see an eye doctor right away, so this is just a wonderful thing for these students."

Conexus distributed more than 40 pairs of glasses to elementary school students on Wednesday.
