Pitt resigns as principal at CHS
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Charlottesville High School is looking for a new principal.
Charlottesville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Royal Gurley announced on Wednesday that Principal Rashaad Pitt submitted his resignation.
According to a letter sent to CHS community members, Pitt is leaving the school in order to focus on his family and health.
His last day with CHS will be the Tuesday before Thanksgiving Break, which is Nov. 21.
Pitt came to CHS in August 2022.
Gurley writes that he will be working with CCS leadership to quickly put an acting principal in place and immediately begin a search for a new permanent principal.
Gurley's letter is below:
Dear CHS staff, families, and students:
I am writing to let you know that today Mr. Rashaad Pitt submitted his resignation as principal of CHS in order to focus on his family and health. His last day will be the Tuesday before Thanksgiving Break, November 21.
Mr. Pitt is currently meeting with CHS staff to announce his departure. We wish him all the best and sincerely thank him for his many contributions to the Black Knight Nation since his arrival last August.
I will be working with the division Executive Leadership Team to quickly name an acting principal. Throughout the process, division leadership will continue to support the CHS Admin Team and staff.
We will also begin our search for the new CHS principal immediately.
