Virginia-specific health insurance marketplace launches
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Virginians now have a new dedicated marketplace to find affordable health insurance plans.
Marketplace.virginia.gov is replacing healthcare.gov in Virginia.
The marketplace opened on Nov. 1 and connects Virginians with Virginia-based insurance agencies and Medicaid.
Director Keven Patchett said nine out of 10 people who work with the marketplace are eligible for savings, and officials will make sure everyone finds what's right for them, even if that's Medicaid.
"If you are, then we can make that final eligibility determination for you and then transfer it directly to state Medicaid to be enrolled in a Medicaid plan. If not, we will check to see how much financial savings you're eligible for. We have what we call plan comparison tools that will let people shop and see which plan is right for them," Patchett said.
Any Virginia resident who wants new health insurance can go to marketplace.virginia.gov to get started.
