ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A student team from Center One beat out college teams in Light House Studios' Adrenaline Film Competition.

The three students are in the media studies program at Center One, which is a branch of Albemarle County Schools.

The competition gives groups 72 hours to fully create a five-minute short film with three guidelines.

The students were assigned a genre (murder mystery), a line of dialogue and a prop.

"It was very exciting, kind of surreal. I wasn't really expecting it," said 12th grader Ezra Walcott.

Walcott said making the movie and then winning puts his name on the map for going into filmmaking after graduation.

“That's one of the things that we want to do here at Center One is we want to get students out of the classroom, doing things that are meaningful, doing things that are real world,” Center One Director Jeff Prillaman said.
