Virginia homicide suspect caught in New Jersey
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man accused of a New Year’s night homicide in Virginia has been arrested and arraigned in New Jersey.
WRIC in Richmond reports the Jan. 1 shooting in Henrico County left one woman dead and another in critical condition.
The Henrico County Police Department says 33-year-old Rajahn Altariq Heath of Richmond has been identified as a suspect in this case.
On Tuesday, he was arraigned in Essex County, New Jersey where is being held as a fugitive while awaiting extradition to Virginia.
Heath is facing charges of second-degree murder, malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The shooting occurred just before midnight on Jan. 1 on the 2000 block of Montbrook Lane.
One victim, 34-year-old Shante Jones of Henrico, was confirmed dead at the scene.
A second woman, who has not yet been identified, remains at an area hospital in critical condition.
