Guilty plea in armed bank robbery case
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man has pleaded guilty in connection with an armed robbery at a Hampton bank.
Attorney General Jason Miyares announced the plea on Wednesday.
According to a release, 36-year-old Delonta Wilson went to the Old Point National Bank in Hampton on Oct. 16, 2023.
He was accused of robbing the bank while holding an elderly customer at knifepoint.
Wilson demanded money from the tellers while threatening to cut the woman’s throat.
The tellers gave Wilson about $6,500 in cash because they feared for the woman’s safety.
Miyares says the case was prosecuted as part of Operation Ceasefire, an initiative that aims to combat violent gun crime.
Wilson will be sentenced in June and faces up to 25 years in prison.
