DURHAM, N.C. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Despite coming back on two separate occasions, the Cavaliers dropped the rubber match against Duke on Saturday 7-4. 

Virginia led 2-0 in the top of the third and 3-2 in the top of the seventh but it was ultimately a five-run, seventh inning that proved to be the difference in the game. 

Four Cavaliers put forth multi-hit efforts including Casey Saucke who went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Jacob Ference also extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single in the fourth inning.  Starting pitcher Kevin Jaxel, making his second career start, pitched five innings allowed three hits and two runs while striking out four. 

Virginia open a six-game homestand on Tuesday when they host Old Dominion at 6 p.m.
