CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Harrison Didawick's 3-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning was the difference as the Cavaliers closed out their five-game home stand with an 8-4 win over VCU.

Didawick's home run, his team-leading 14th of the season, put the team in control for good after having to rally on two separate occasions.

VCU got on the board first in the top of the first inning courtesy of a solo home run from Brandon Eike. In their own half of the inning, Anthony Stephan got the team going with an RBI triple that brought home Griff O'Ferrall. One batter later, Casey Saucke grounded out to third base, but that brought home a runner to give the Cavaliers the lead.

Jacob Ference extended their lead moments later with an RBI triple to make it 3-1 heading into the bottom of the first.

Owen Coady ran into some trouble in the top of the fifth when the VCU retook the lead after he allowed a walk while the bases were loaded, but as we've seen all season, the bats came alive when they needed to a Didawick gave the team the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning.

Virginia open up a four-game road trip on Friday when they take on Louisville at 6 p.m.
