ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man from North Carolina has been arrested for a carjacking that occurred over the weekend in Albemarle County.

According to the Albemarle County Police Department, the incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. Sunday on the 600 block of Country Green Road.

The male victim told police he was pumping gas when a person approached him and demanded his car.

The suspect also assaulted the victim, taking his wallet and cell phone.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.

About an hour later, the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office found the victim’s vehicle disabled along Route 29.

The driver was identified as the suspect in the carjacking, 19-year-old Jareece C. Breeden of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Breeden has been charged with grand larceny, carjacking, robbery, and assault and battery.

He is being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Amherst.
