CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- In the wake of completing his 13th consecutive Boston Marathon on Monday, University of Virginia President Jim Ryan presented a check to UVA Health leaders on Friday.

This year's race set a record in his fundraising efforts.

According to a release, Ryan raised more than $52,000 for the UVA Children's Hospital, making this his most successful "Run with Jim" marathon campaign so far.

"You know, they are so full that sometimes they have to turn away patients, which just gives you a sense of the demand for the need for their services, and anything that we can do to support what they're doing will benefit the kids and family that they are doing," said Ryan.

Since 2018, Ryan has represented various causes, including teachers, veterans, and nurses. Over the years, he has raised more than $100,000.
