CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Chief Michael Kochis discusses the importance of being out in the community on this edition of The Chief Report, as well as the problem of ghost guns.

"I think it's important for folks to be able to look me in the face and ask for some answers. And I may not have the answers, but I think it's important that we continue to be out there, continue to be accessible to our community, and to build those relationships," Kochis said.

He said that dealing with ghost guns is a challenge, noting that some of the solutions "are either in Richmond or in D.C."

He added that, in general, it would help if people stopped leaving their guns in unlocked cars to be stolen.
