CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Hailey Peterson has accepted the position of executive director of Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle, starting Monday.

Peterson, who has been the organization's interim executive director since September, will be responsible for leading the organization forward, developing a vision for its future, and continuing its strong record of impact in the area.

“I’m honored to continue my work with Meals on Wheels as the executive director," Peterson said. "Having spent the past three years getting to know the volunteers, learning more about the organization, and better understanding the needs of our community, I’m looking forward to deepening our connection to our neighbors in need. I’m so thankful to be part of this incredible organization and work alongside those who keep our wheels turning.”

Peterson’s work with Meals on Wheels began in 2021 as volunteer manager, soon moving into the assistant director role as well as the organization’s interim executive director since September 2023. Prior to joining Meals on Wheels,  Hailey’s experience spanned retail management, education, and media production. 

Peterson is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.
