CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Thousands of people turned out for this year’s Tom Tom Festival in downtown Charlottesville.

This was the 12th year for the festival that highlights interconnection and the shared future of communities.

A variety of events took place with some on criminal justice reform, financial empowerment, educational strategies, community wellness, diversity initiatives and much more.

The Tom Tom Foundation says there were more than 25,000 attendees at events featuring hundreds of speakers and artists.

The two-day block party took over the Downtown Mall on Friday and Saturday.

And the popular Crowdfunded Pitch Night saw Ethiopian Delights take the grand prize and Angel Detection Solutions named the crowdfunded winner.

Ethiopian Delights is a consumer goods company that produces read-to-eat Ethiopian foods, while Angel Detection Solutions has developed a disposable cup that can detect when date rape drugs or similar substances have been put in a person’s drink.
