RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- For the 15th year, the law firm Allen and Allen is honoring people who generate positive change in the community.

Tuesday is the last day to submit nominations for this year’s Hometown Heroes award.

Hometown Heroes was started in 2010 to honor the law firm’s 100th anniversary.

“The Allen and Allen Hometown Heroes award is something the entire firm looks forward to each year, and we take pride in the fact that it’s been a staple in communities across Virginia for so long,” said Edward Allen, president of Allen and Allen. “For more than 110 years, the attorneys and staff of Allen, Allen, Allen and Allen have been inspired by the people in the Commonwealth who make our state a great place to live and work.”

A nomination form can be found online here or in each of the firm’s locations in Charlottesville, Chesterfield, Fredericksburg, Mechanicsville, Petersburg, Richmond and Stafford.

People who have previously been recognized include community leaders, foster parents, advocates, small business owners, teachers, police officers, first responders and others.

Since the Hometown Heroes award was created, 540 people have been recognized, sharing their stories of giving back to their communities.

“At Allen and Allen, we believe a community is so much more than just a group of people: it’s the spirit we create when we work together to help one another,” said Allen. “Across Virginia, there are individuals who embody the firm’s values of service, care, compassion, community and family and generate positive change in the community. We call these special people Hometown Heroes.”

This year’s heroes will be announced on June 24.
