UPDATE 1:30 p.m.: The Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue reports the house fire is out.

Firefighters are still on the scene to watch for any hot spots. 

The residents have been displaced.


UPDATE 1 p.m.: The Albemarle County Police Department has identified a person of interest in connection with an incident on Secretarys Road on Thursday morning.

Police are searching for 26-year-old Jacob Pope.

Officials report he was last seen running away from the scene of a domestic incident while carrying a baseball bat. He was wearing a black, short-sleeved shirt and jeans.

ACPD and the Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue responded to the incident around 10:40 a.m.

There was a house fire at the same time as the domestic incident.


UPDATE: The Albemarle County Police Department's SWAT team is on the scene to assist with the search for a subject who allegedly started the fire in a home.

The residents of the home were able to get out before the fire started.

There is no description currently available for the person of interest.

Police are searching for a man in connection with this ongoing incident. 

There is currently no information regarding injuries, suspects or damage.


ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An incident has closed part of a southern Albemarle County road.

Secretarys Road at Blenheim Ridge Road is closed due to multiple emergency response vehicles being on the scene.

There is a large police and fire presence in the area.

People are urged to avoid the area at this time.
