ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man has been charged following a domestic disturbance and house fire that occurred Thursday morning.

According to Albemarle County officials, police officers and fire crews responded to the 1800 block of Secretarys Road around 10:40 a.m.

Officials say the incident resulted in a vehicle crashing into a single-family home and starting a fire.

The residents were able to evacuate, but the home is considered a total loss.

A suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jacob A. Pope, was captured around 2:45 p.m. in a vehicle near mile marker 121 on westbound Interstate 64.

Pope has been charged with attempted malicious wounding, child endangerment and arson.

He is in custody pending a bond hearing.
